This secret
is designed to make you aware of the thousands of foreign
words that are used in contemporary Japanese, and to encourage
you to start using them.
Why bother to
learn hard kanji compounds when you could just use a word
from your own language. Don't be heroic, be pragmatic, is
the liberating message here.
The picture
below provides an example of how convenient Japanese loanwords
are. A top hat was originally called a Yama-taka-boshi
(literally a "mountain-high-hat"), but it is now called simply
toppu hatto.
You can't deny
that the Japlish word is a whole lot easier!
